唐元和丙戌(806)西蜀梅彪撰,外丹藥物隱名詞典,仿《爾雅》六篇一卷。因丹經用藥皆隱名(「畫餅夢桃」),遂集六家口訣、眾石異名。卷上釋玄黃花、鉛精(金公、河車、白虎)、水銀(姹女、流珠、青龍)、丹砂(日精、朱鳥)、雄雌黃、曾青等金石及草木、鼎釜、華池(酢)隱號。卷下:有法可營造丹名(太一小還丹、紫遊丹等);丹之別名;經傳歌訣書目(《參同契》《石壁記》等);有法藥物造法;有名無法之大仙丹(黃帝九鼎丹、大還丹等,非塵俗可知)。是解讀唐宋外丹隱語的基礎工具書。

Shi Yao Er Ya proves that alchemical failure often comes from nominal chaos: the same mineral has many names, and misidentification breaks causal chains of formula. Lexicographic standardization is therefore a safety and efficacy logic, not scholastic pedantry.
1) When reading classical 丹方, cross-check every mineral alias against Shi Yao Er Ya before any modern analogue experiment (or treat as historical only if toxic). 2) Build a personal glossary linking traditional names → modern mineral IDs → toxicity class. 3) Apply the same logic to BaZi ‘herbal/mineral cures’: refuse unnamed ‘magic sand’ remedies. 4) In textual study, treat variant drug names as a source of lineage disagreement, not deeper mysticism. 5) Prefer formulas whose ingredients survive synonym collapse to a consistent set.
Unlike 丹方鑑源 (provenance of recipes) or 大丹記 (process narrative), this is a philological-instrumental proof: language hygiene as alchemical method. It differs from Bencao materia medica by focusing on elixir stones and their secret names; the why is the cryptonymic culture of waidan transmission.
