Sacred geography is not scenery but an ordered hierarchy of spiritual jurisdiction: mountains become efficacious only when lineage, scriptural transmission, and imperial or local recognition coincide. The text proves that Maoshan’s authority rests on continuous Shangqing pedigree and registered sacred sites, not on isolated miracle tales. Therefore, efficacy is institutional—place + lineage + rite—rather than purely personal charisma.
1. In BaZi, treat ‘mountain/direction support’ as jurisdiction: a chart’s favorable direction needs a coherent pattern (daymaster + useful god + season), not a random lucky mountain. 2. When choosing a cultivation site or altar orientation, prioritize continuity of method and register-like discipline over scenic fame. 3. Read ancestral or teacher ‘roots’ in the chart (Parents palace, Resource stars) as lineage nodes that authorize practice. 4. Use Maoshan’s model: document your own practice stages so efficacy is trackable, not anecdotal.
Unlike pure hagiography (神仙傳) or miracle anthologies (靈驗記), 茅山志 argues from place-as-institution. Unlike 武當福地總真集, it centers Shangqing scriptural pedigree rather than Zhenwu martial-pilgrimage sacralization. Its logic is archival and jurisdictional, not merely wondrous.
