Another of Luo Qing’s Five Books in Six Volumes: ‘Scroll of Awakening to the Way through Bitter Effort.’ It autobiographically and didactically recounts the intensity of seeking—years of austerity, doubt, and breakthrough into the teaching of the unborn. Scholars read it as the experiential backbone of Luo jiao: enlightenment framed as hard practice culminating in sudden clarity of zhenkong (true emptiness). Style mixes vernacular sermon and scriptural quotation.
